Selection & Admission in class 9th

Admission in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, (Raisen) is made through Letral Entry Selection Test as per guidelines given by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), New Delhi, at class 6th level. Students seeking admission and would like to appear letral entry test for class 9th may opt for English or Hindi as a medium of entrance test, while submitting application form. The medium of instruction in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (Raisen) is the mother tongue or Regional Language up to class 8th and English thereafter for Maths and Science and Hindi in Social Science. Students admitted in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (Raisen) appear for 10th and 12th class examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.
1. To provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children from rural areas without regard to their familyís socio-economic condition.
2. To ensure that students attain a reasonable level of competency in three languages as envisaged in Three Language Formula.
3. To serve in each district as focal point for improvement of quality of school education in general through sharing of experiences and facilities.
In order to optimally utilize the infrastructure and facilities available in these Vidyalayas, it has been decided by the Samiti to fill the vacant seats in IX class through an All India level Selection Test.
The district-wise vacant seats in the Vidyalayas are separately notified in local newspapers.

Only the candidates from the district concerned where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission against vacant seats through lateral entry test. However, the district where the JNV is opened and is bifurcated at a later date, the old boundaries of the district are considered for the purpose of eligibility for admission into JNVST 9th, in case a new Vidyalaya has not started in newly bifurcated district as yet.

A candidate seeking admission must not have born before ______________ and _____________ after. This will apply to candidates of all categories, including those who belong to the schedule cast (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST).
In case of doubt of overage candidate seeking admission, they may be refered to the Medical Board for confirmation of the age. The decision of the Medical Board will be final.
Only those candidates who are studying/have studied Class VIII during the Academic Session ________________ in one of the Govt./Govt. recognized schools of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is functioning and where admission is sought, are eligible.

Candidate appearing for the admission test must qualify/ pass Class VIII in the academic session ______________ from a Govt./Govt. recognized school in the district where he/she is seeking admission.

1) Residence certificate,
2) Proof of date of birth. However, if any doubt arises, a medical board will verify it.
3) Proof for eligibility as per the conditions of NVS,
4) For candidate seeking admission under rural quota, the parents will also have to submit certificate to effect that the child has studied in an Institution ocated in notified rural area.
5) Any other documents required.

The existing vacant seats in the SC/ST category as notified are reserved for the SC/ST students. For vacancy position, website of NVS(HQ) may be referred.

Selection in the selection test will not vest any right upon candidate to secure admission into JNV till the candidate produces all the relevant certificates such as birth certificate, pass certificate of VIII class with mark sheets, SC/ST certificate, if any, as prescribed by NVS for the admission.

Details of the marks obtained in the test will not be communicated and there is no provision for re-checking/re-totaling.
Candidates will be considered for the admission only into that Vidyalaya for which he/she has appeared for Selection Test.
At the time of admission, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) Scheduled Tribes (STs) & Other Backward Classes (OBCs) categories will have to produce the required Scheduled Caste/Tribe or OBC Certificate issued by the competent authority.

In case of any dispute, the decision of NVS will be final and binding on the candidates.

As per Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti notification a nominal fee as "Vidyalaya Vikash Nidhi" will have to be paid by all students who are studying in class 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th. The fee structure is given below-

  • Normally Result of the Selection Test is expected to be announced by June_________ for admission in class 9th against vacant seats.

    Result of the Selection Test will be notified in the Vidyalaya Notice Board as well as published in the website of JNVs concerned. Selected candidates will also be intimated by post.
